Game Variations: Ambrose
|
Ambrose format is generally played in four man teams,
however can be played in two or six man teams. Each player hits a
shot and then the best one is selected until the ball is holed. This
is a fantastic format for corporate days.

Some ambrose formats may require players
to hit their shots in the same order throughout the round.
There is no need to set a minimum number of drives, particularly if there is
more than one beginner, this will ensure the less skilled players in the group
enjoy their introduction to golf. A minimum number of drives "evens" out
the competition and ensures that groups with one or two really good players don't
dominate the day.
If the best ball is played from within a hazard, all players must play their
shot from that hazard.
A team of four players will have their combined handicap divided by eight to
arrive at a team handicap. This is subtracted from the teams gross score to produce
the nett result.
A team of three players will have their combined handicap divided by six to arrive
at a team handicap. This is subtracted from the team's gross score to produce

and the total. Adjusted handicap is subtracted and the nett score recorded.
