Callaway Apex Hybrid 2016

Earlier this week, Callaway Golf unveiled the Callaway Apex CF16 irons. These irons are designed to offer the consumer a high performance iron, that is targeted at better players. The face cup technology was created for the Big Bertha range and now features in this better players range. This gives the Apex CF16 a serious amount of fire power and forgiveness in a lower handicapper iron, without jeopardising forgiveness.

The new Callaway Apex 16 Hybrid was also unveiled at the same time to compliment the set. It has been no secret that hybrids have also replaced the longer irons in sets, as they are more forgiving and easier to launch. The only negatives about hybrid clubs are their ball flight characteristics, as they have yet to replicate an iron trajectory and spin rate. Until now!

Callaway Golf set their goal to create a hybrid designed for shots into the green. In order to achieve this, a hybrid needs to be able to produce a higher trajectory with greater spin.

The Apex features a longer 'iron-like' blade, to provide more 'iron-like' ball flight characteristics. This includes greater spin rates for easier workability and stoppage power on the greens.

The 'iron feel' is consistent right through to the hosel, with Callaway deciding to avoid the use of the Optifit system, allowing for a lighter and thinner profile. To maintain Hybrid ball speeds, Callaway added the Forged Face Cup that is fused to an internal standing wave for added versatility.
