Callaway Elyte Sandstorm Drivers
Posted by GolfBox on 26th May 2025
The onslaught of limited-edition golf equipment is in full swing as we approach the mid-point of 2025.
Some releases have been cool, while others have missed the mark. Callaway’s latest limited-edition release, however, asks an interesting question.
“Who wouldn’t want a Sandstorm-themed Elyte driver?”
WHY SANDSTORM?
You probably weren’t expecting a Callaway Elyte driver finished in desert camo. To be honest, neither were we...
But first, a quick recap of the Elyte driver:
- Its Ai 10x face tightens dispersion by standardising speed and spin across the entire area of the face.
- A new thermoforged crown saves weight, lowering the centre of gravity to cut spin and elevate speed.
- There are four models to choose from: standard Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte Max Fast, Elyte Triple Diamond.
So, where does the Elyte Sandstorm driver and Elyte Sandstorm Triple Diamond driver fit in the Elyte driver matrix?
WHAT’S NEW
Not much! The digital desert camo pattern on the sole is the only change, replacing the white and green accents of the original Elyte driver. It's a purely aesthetical upgrade; the performance profile of the Elyte Sandstorm is identical to its original counterparts.
The Sandstorm theme also extends to the driver shaft and grip. A Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei shaft and Golf Pride MCC grip both feature an understated sandstorm detail, a nice touch that draws attention without being too overwhelming.
Seeing the Elyte Sandstorm in the flesh, it makes you wonder if Callaway didn’t think about going with the Sandstorm theme in the first place. The desert camo/military aesthetic is cool and unique, completely differentiating it from the largely grey/black tones that have dominated the driver category in 2025.
One thing: if you’re a yippy bunker player, the sandy theme may be triggering.
Just sayin’…
