Callaway Epic Speed Drivers & Fairway Woods

Callaway Epic Speed Drivers & Fairway Woods

Although the design phase of the new Callaway Epic drivers and fairway woods relied on the complex use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, Callaway’s intention with the finished product was much simpler: do your best and let the clubs do the rest.

Such an specific ambition could only be achieved using the efficiency of the Callaway supercomputer, a machine that has again been purposed to find distance and refine forgiveness in the new Epic 2021 range of drivers & fairway woods.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning have redesigned key components, the SS21 Flash Face and new Jailbreak Frame, which are both hidden internally but are hard at work keeping you on track when your swing is not.

It's a design that elevates speed, distance and forgiveness to new and Epic levels - and who’s going to knock that back?

New Jailbreak and Flash Face for unequalled performance across three Epic Driver models.

Long becomes longer and straight gets even straighter in new Epic Fairway Woods.

Smoking a driver is what every golfer lives for, which is why Callaway decided there would be not just one, but three new Callaway Epic drivers.

It’s because longer, straighter and more forgiving isn’t confined to just one fixed set of values; golf is definitely not a one-size-fits-all proposition and no two swings are identical.

The three NEW Epic drivers, Epic Speed, Epic Max and Epic MAX LS are designed to accentuate the good and minimise the not-so-good in your swing, which will maximise your ability to smoke the driver with the Epic best suited to you.

An overhauled Jailbreak system and a face designed by artificial intelligence - perfected after learning from over 15,000 failures – make the Epic Callaway’s best driver yet.

And with more carbon fibre and a slippery new head shape, the Epic driver is ready to unleash a torrent of Epic power.

Callaway Epic Driver Tech - Jailbreak

Jailbreak Speed Frame

Callaway’s new Jailbreak iteration has morphed into a frame configuration, rather than the famous twin bars. Designed by AI, the Jailbreak frame now braces the club head horizontally, as well as vertically, to increase stiffness, stability & elevate ball speed from every part of the face.

Callaway Epic Driver Tech - Flash Face

Flash Face SS21

The Epic’s new AI-designed SS21 Flash Face complements the new Jailbreak frame to maximise ball speed and distance across a greater area of the face. Flash Face SS21 represents the best combination of speed and forgiveness, customised for all three Epic drivers.

Callaway Epic Driver Tech - Cyclone Aero Shape

Cylcone Aero Shape

Any aerodynamicist worth their wage knows that aerodynamic drag is the natural enemy of club head speed, especially on the down swing. That’s why Callaway have flattened the crown of the new Epic driver to slip through the air more efficiently and maximise speed and distance.

Callaway Epic Driver Tech - Carbon Fibre Crown

Carbon Fibre Crown

It’s bigger, better and now covers more of the sole: it’s the “Epic” new carbon fibre crown. Weight savings helped shift weight lower in the head to boost MOI, making the Epic driver range more forgiving to produce a powerful and impressive ball flight every time.

The Epic isn’t only the best Callaway driver to date; it also offers the most individualised performance with three models tailored to cover the entire golfing demographic: Epic Speed, Epic MAX and Epic MAX LS.

Sure, they exhibit the same Epic DNA with the Jailbreak Frame and SS21 Flash Face, but each model behaves slightly differently to complement a golfer’s swing and shore up any weaknesses.

It’s the Epic driver that redefines speed and it’s an absolute rocket. The Epic Speed’s AI-designed Flash Face and Jailbreak Speed Frame combine to shell out record ball speeds across every part of the club face, making it the fastest driver in the Callaway collection. Mid-spin and launch characteristics and a slightly draw-biased design creates the most powerful, long and beautiful drives in golf.

The equation is incredibly simple for the new Callaway Epic Max driver: long and straight. Offering the most forgiveness out of the three new Epic drivers, the Epic Max has the speed-setting Jailbreak Speed Frame/Flash Face combo but has also been designed to be ultra-stable and forgiving. Like the Epic Speed it is inherently draw biased but a 17g sliding weight at the rear of the sole can adjust ball flights for 20 yards of left/right correction.

The Epic Max LS is the driver that should appeal to lower handicappers, with its smaller head size and low-spin properties enhancing the high-speed and ultra-forgiving properties of the new Epic design. Unlike its draw-biased contemporaries the LS is completely neutral, making it the most fade capable driver in the Callaway line-up. And with a sliding weight on the perimeter of the sole, the Epic Max LS also provides flight shape adjustability of up to 13 yards.

Callaway's supercomputer has been busy working on the Callaway Epic fairway woods too, and like the Epic driver, they’re impressive.

An AI-designed Flash Face SS21 and Jailbreak Frame is tailored to each fairway wood loft in the two Epic fairway wood lines: the Epic Speed and Epic Max.

Ball speeds have been pushed to new levels across all areas of the face in both the Speed and Max fairway wood models, making them faster than their Mavrik predecessors while being significantly more forgiving and versatile.

It’s an Epic win-win.

Jailbreak Velocity Blades

Artificial intelligence was employed to redesign Callaway’s famous Jailbreak bracing system, which boosts ball speeds in the Epic fairway range. New angled ‘blades’ connect the crown to the sole internally to brace and stiffen the body and allow the face cup flex to a greater extent for high-velocity ball speeds all over the face.

Fairway Flash Face SS21

The new AI-designed Flash Face SS21 is tailored specifically for every loft, head size and model in the Epic fairway wood line-up. It permits meticulous optimisation of spin rates and CG for every Epic fairway wood model for superb performance and ball speed out of both the sweet spot and off-centre strikes.

Forged Face Cup

Constructed from high-strength forged C300 maraging steel, the face cup flexes and releases efficiently to maximise ball speed and consistency across all sections of the clubface.

Penetrating Ball Flights

The forward Center of Gravity (CG) is combined with a new leading-edge to promote a strong ball flight, outstanding spin robustness and consistent shot shape dispersion.

There are two distinct fairway wood models that will suit different players. They also feature the same Jailbreak technology that is the centre of Callaway's new Epic drivers.

The Callaway Epic Speed Fairway is built for speed, precision and shot shaping and is the fastest fairway wood in Callaway’s arsenal. It produces high launching, but penetrating, ball flights through a forward CG that is achieved through a fixed sole weight design. A reconfigured leading edge enhances versatility from difficult lies.

Featuring an oversized head shape that will inspire confidence, Callaway Epic MAX fairway woods are easy to launch and ultra-forgiving. The Epic MAX’s high-MOI design extracts performance from every area of the face and they can be configured for either maximum forgiveness or lower launch and spin rates via interchangeable 2g and 14g sole weights
