The new Callaway JAWS Full Toe wedge is living proof that spin is king in the wedge game.
Its full-face groove design makes it a back-spinning beast and it will generate spin in any situation, be it a stock standard chip shot, greenside flop, splash out of the sand or a full-throttle pitch into the green.
And with great spin comes great control and consistency, making the JAWS Full Toe wedge a highly versatile tool with which to unleash your creativity.
To generate a tonne of spin across the full width of the face, the Callaway JAWS Full Toe wedges uses several key face features.
First-up are the namesake JAWS grooves, which Callaway suggest are the most aggressive in golf and extend across the entire width of the face.
The JAWS groove is quite revolutionary, with its shallow, V-shaped design boasting the sharpest edge in golf, biting into the ball at impact to create intense leverage and extreme spin.
That is followed up by offset grooves-within-a-groove technology, which provides a coarse texture on the face for extra grip and spin (the groove pattern is offset to provide more spin for open-faced shots).
And in a first for Callaway, the JAWS Full Toe features a raw face, which rusts over time to increase grip and spin over the lifetime of the wedge.
Full And Toe-Tal Control
The Full Toe portion of Callaway’s new JAWS wedge refers to its elongated toe design.
It provides a little extra area high on the face and makes playing high flop shots around the green or out of the sand a breeze, especially because the wedge’s C-grind sole is designed specifically to accommodate open-faced shots.
Callaway have also made a significant alteration to the centre of gravity of the JAWS Full Toe wedge.
Extra mass has been taken out of the middle of the wedge and shifted up towards the toe, which creates a lower ball flight trajectory that leads to increased control.
And the weight port system on the rear of the clubhead shifts the CG away from the hosel to enhance feel at impact.
Callaway JAWS Full Toe wedges are available in a chrome or black finish.
