Callaway Mack Daddy 3 Wedges Review

The next generation of the popular Mack Daddy range is upon us, with the release of the third generation Callaway Mack Daddy 3 wedges. The Roger Cleveland designed milled wedge has been a big hit with the players on tour. The new wedge technology creates a controlled and consistent flight to compliment your short game.

The MD3 is a very attractive wedge that has adopted the green holes from the Phil Mickelson designed Mack Daddy PM Grind. These four holes are attractive cosmetically, but this also allows callaway to remove weight from the back of the sole and position it higher in the club. This weight movement gives the ball a much lower controlled trajectory off of the face.

The new grooves patterns give the player more consistent yardages and controlled spin throughout the set. The lower lofts have the 30V grooves, mid lofts have 20V and higher lofts just 5V. This guarantees a progressive spin pattern throughout the wedge set.

Also new for the Mack Daddy 3 is the new grind, groove and bounce package. This gives the golfer a specific wedge set up relative to his/her angle of attack and course conditions. With 3 different grinds and grooves, eight lofts and two finishes to provide the required support around the greens, for your personal short game requirements. Loaded with the True Temper Dynamic Gold Wedge flex shaft and Lamkin UTX grip to give you that desired tour players feel.

The grind, loft and groove combination has been a big research focus. With Callaway working along side the Tour players and listening to their views on how they could make the MD3 better than the MD2. One Of the improvements, is an added grind.

Mack Daddy 3C Grind

For the firmer conditions and golfers that have a shallow angle of attack we have the MD3 C-Grind. It has retained its versatile heel and toe relief, helping your short game repertoire. Whilst managing to increase the width of the wedge from the leading edge.

Mack Daddy 3 - S Grind

The S Grind in the MD3 is the universal, all purpose grind that allows for all different swing types, conditions and situations. The S Grind has been designed slightly larger than that of the MD2 which aids in creating those masterful Mickelson recovery shots.

Mack Daddy 3W Grind

The newcomer to the Mack Daddy range fills the gap that Mr Roger Cleveland thought was missing in the MD2. A Wider soled wedge designed to support players with steeper angles of attack and wet conditions. The W grind helps eliminate the heavier strike which is usually a common issue with steeper attacking players.
