When talk turns to Cleveland wedges it’s short odds that the word Zip gets thrown about more than once.

Zip is once again the dominant theme in the new Cleveland CBX4 ZipCore wedge, a modern cavity back wedge that features all three of Cleveland’s famous Zip technologies - HydraZip, UltiZip and ZipCore.

All that collective zip piles up to make the new Cleveland CBX4 ZipCore one of the best, and most versatile, wedges for mid-to-high handicappers.

MEET THE CBX4 ZIPCORE WEDGE

Cleveland CBX4 ZIPCORE Wedges - Profiles

If you have a bag full of game-improvement cavity back irons yet play blade wedges, stop immediately: Cleveland think you’re making a big mistake.

Cleveland, however, have the solution. It’s called the Cleveland CBX4 ZipCore wedge and it’s a modern cavity back wedge featuring all three of Cleveland’s Zips (explainer footnote below).

The ZipCore addition to the wedge’s cavity back design creates a toe-side centre of gravity, which is quite awesome considering mid-to-high handicappers strike the ball near the toe over 55 per cent of the time.

It leads to superb forgiveness and with three grinds - S, C and V - there’s also plenty of versatility.

And the best part? The CBX4 ZipCore wedge will blend perfectly into a set of cavity back or hollow-bodied irons.

If you are playing modern cavity back irons, it makes sense to switch to a modern cavity back wedge like the CBX4.

CBX4 ZipCore wedges are fitted with a KBS Hi Rev steel shaft or UST Recoil Dart 80 graphite shaft.

CBX4 ZIPCORE TECH

ZIPCORE

ZipCore is a low-density core through the hosel and heel and is a more effective substitute for steel in that zone of the club. The repurposed weight is shifted higher and closer to the toe, which makes it much more effective in controlling launch, spin and distance and tightening dispersion.

And with a unique ZipCore design according to loft, MOI and forgiveness is able to be optimised in every Cleveland wedge.

ULTIZIP

Cleveland CBX4 ZIPCORE Wedges Tech - ULTIZIP

Sharper, tighter and deeper is a summary of the new UltiZip groove that features on all three of Cleveland’s new wedges. And you can also add in spinnier and more abundant, too.

Cleveland have squeezed an extra two grooves on the face to create maximum spin on the greens while delivering launch angles and carry distances that are remarkably consistent.

HYDRAZIP

HydraZip is a unique angled micro-groove pattern and texture applied to the face of all three of Cleveland’s new wedges. It does what its name suggests by ramping up the zip when it’s wet.

The HydraZip concept gets down to business by channelling moisture away from the face at impact, increasing the friction between the face and ball to generate spin.

And it adds up to a staggering 43 per cent increase in spin in damp conditions. The HydraZip design is also tailored according to the loft of the wedge.

Lower lofted wedges feature fewer micro grooves and a less pronounced face texture, while mid lofts receive an increasingly aggressive face blast and a greater number of micro grooves.

Higher lofts feature the most intense HydraZip pattern and texture. Cleveland wedges offers spin consistency throughout the range and that is a huge advantage in wet weather.

THREE SOLE GRIND OPTIONS

With CBX 4 ZipCore Wedges, Cleveland make the sole grind selections for you. By pre-selecting each grind by loft, it's the easiest way to get just the right performance, right where you need it.

Cleveland CBX4 ZIPCORE Wedges Tech - Sole Grinds

V-Shaped
Our innovative V-shaped sole in lofts 44°–52° makes full swing and square-faced shots a breeze by gliding over turf without digging, even if you strike slightly behind the ball.

S-Shaped
An S-shaped sole with added bounce on 54°–56° lofts is ideal for bunker shots and open-faced finesse shots from the rough or fairway, helping you get in and out of the sand or turf without losing speed.

C-Shaped
A C-shaped grind on lofts 58°–60° is perfect for lob shots with an open face, and heel- and toe-side relief mean you’re free to manipulate the face angle to suit any greenside situation.
