Cobra F-MAX AirSpeed Range of Clubs

Cobra F-MAX AirSpeed Range of Clubs

Posted by GolfBox on 23rd Dec 2019

Cobra recognise that not everyone swings as smoothly and powerfully as Rickie Fowler, nor can “Rainman” their way to success like Bryson DeChambeau.

It’s why Cobra caters for the more mainstream golfers among us, Not only the select few whose talents and clubhead speed are almost unhuman. The new Cobra F-Max Airspeed family is testament to that.

After a Jenny Craig-like weight-loss program, the full range of Airspeed drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons are now the lightest and fastest in the game, designed specifically for golfers with average swing speeds. The Cobra F-Max Airspeed family, available in both Airspeed men’s and Airspeed women’s configurations, is guaranteed to put some much-needed fizz back into your game.

COBRA F-MAX AIRSPEED DRIVER

Weighing in at only 270g, the new Cobra F-Max Airspeed driver is the reigning lightweight champion of the category.

The driver is close to 20 per cent lighter than the Cobra F9 and the reduced mass will help players with more leisurely swing speeds gain clubhead speed and distance, all without any extra exertion. With both a Cobra F-Max Airspeed men’s driver and Cobra F-Max women’s driver available, there’ll be one to help every golfer pipe it straight down the centre off the tee.

Lightweight Innovation

In Formula 1, the drive to find incremental improvements and efficiencies, no matter how small, can add up to big gains on the track. It’s the same tactic Cobra have taken with their Airspeed drivers by stripping unnecessary weight out of the driver without impacting performance.

The weight savings have come from every part of the Cobra F-Max Airspeed driver.

The new head is 2g lighter thanks to an expansion of the carbon fibre crown. Freeing up weight allowed Cobra engineers to concentrate mass low and rearward in the driver head for a high-launching, low-spin ball flight that makes the driver dangerously long.

The driver is fitted with a new Cobra Airspeed 40 shaft, which is 5g lighter (2g was saved by opting for a raw finish rather than painting it), while a Lamkin REL 360 midsize grip has shaved another 6g off the new F-Max Airspeed Driver.

Back/Heel Weighting

Heel-biased weighting placed low and back creates optimized spin and provides draw bias for straighter, controlled drives.

PWR Ridges

The new PWR ridges on top of the crown help frame the ball and driver face to enhance alignment for straighter tee shots.

Offset Design

An offset hosel provides correction for rightward tendencies, allowing golfers to find more fairways effortlessly.

Carbon Crown

Replacing Ti with Carbon in the driver saves 10g that was used in other areas of the head to improve launch & forgiveness.

COBRA F-MAX AIRSPEED FAIRWAY WOOD

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the Cobra Airspeed family, with the new Cobra F-Max Airspeed fairway woods replicating the weight savings achieved in the Cobra Airspeed driver.

And the Jenny Craig diet has produced a similar result in performance too, with the new Cobra F-Max Airspeed fairway woods boosting clubhead speed and distance for golfers who swing at a moderate pace.

The Cobra F-Max Airspeed men's fairway is complemented by a Cobra F-Max Airspeed women's fairway wood.

Fairway Wood Technology

Much like the Airspeed driver, expanding the footprint of the carbon fibre crown on the Cobra F-Max Airspeed fairway wood has saved 10g - weight that was used in other areas of the clubhead to improve launch and enhance forgiveness.

Both the men’s and women’s fairway wood and hybrid feature the same heel bias and offset as the driver, to keep things on the straight and narrow, and are fitted with a new shaft that saves 5g of weight.

COBRA F-MAX AIRSPEED HYBRID

A blend of iron and wood, the Cobra F-Max Airspeed hybrid is designed for forgiveness and versatility.

Easy to use in all situations out on the course, it’ll keep you out of trouble off the tee with its accuracy or help you knock it back in play from all manner of lies thanks to its unique sole and shape.

The Cobra F-Max Airspeed men’s hybrid and Cobra F-Max Airspeed women’s hybrid are highly dependable members of the Airspeed family and are a must-have club in the bag.

Hybrid Technology

While the Cobra F-Max Airspeed hybrid doesn’t utilise any carbon fibre, a new light-weight design lifts clubhead speeds and distance, particularly for golfers who aren’t in the high-velocity category.

Both the Cobra F-Max Airspeed men’s hybrid and the Cobra F-Max Airspeed women’s hybrid are fitted with a graphite shaft that is 5g lighter.

A shallower face lowers the centre of gravity for an easier launch and higher ball flight and like the Airspeed drivers and fairway woods, the hybrids feature heel-biased weighting and an offset hosel, which work together to fight a slice.

COBRA F-MAX AIRSPEED IRONS

Removing excess flab and converting it into speed-creating muscle has made the new Cobra F-Max Airspeed irons trim, taut, terrific and perfectly suited to medium swing speeds.

With sets of Cobra F-Max Airspeed men’s irons and Cobra F-Max Airspeed women’s irons both available, the new irons are the lightest in the Cobra collection. A redesign has toned them up for on-course athleticism, with extra clubhead speed and distance the upshot, but importantly, the new design hasn’t removed the muscle needed to launch the ball high and long.

A graphite shaft which is 5g lighter also features, however there is also a Cobra F-Max Airspeed steel shaft iron set available.

Low Profile

A confident-inspiring low profile design encourages a higher trajectory and ease of launch at impact.

Deep Undercut

The Deep Undercut cavity improves the MOI and pushes the CG location lower in the head to aid elevation.

Greater Lofts

Increased lofts throughout the set enhances spin and launch to assist with getting the ball in the air.

The Technology

With a lightweight, low-profile, cavity-back design, Cobra F-Max Airspeed irons are a friendly and forgiving bunch.

Lightweight: The reduction in weight allows golfers to increase their clubhead speed and, in conjunction with the generous lofts afforded to Airspeed irons, produce a high-launching ball flight that maximises distance.

Progressive Hosels: The irons also feature hosels of different lengths through the set, with shorter hosels fitted to the longer irons to lower the centre of gravity (CG) - optimising forgiveness and launch - while the short irons have a longer hosel that raises the CG to improve control and spin.

Strategic Weight: Like the rest of the Airspeed family, the Cobra F-Max Airspeed irons are heel weighted to create a draw bias that will straighten up a slice, as will the hosel offset that gets more progressive through the set in the mid to long irons.
