Jason Day What's In The Bag? (2025)

Posted by GolfBox on 15th May 2025

While his wardrobe choices have arguably overshadowed his on-course performances of late, Jason Day is one of the finest golfers Australia has ever produced. He is only the third golfer from Down Under to achieve the men's world No.1 ranking, which came after the Queenslander won the 2015 US PGA Championship his first and only major so far.

Now based permanently in the US with his wife Ellie and five kids, Day has compiled 13 PGA Tour wins in his career. His most recent victory came at the mixed-teams Grant Thornton Invitational in 2023 when he partnered Lydia Ko. Day has also recorded five runner-up finishes in majors.

An equipment free agent, Jason Day is an ambassador for Malbon clothing. He has gained hordes of fans for his bold fashion choices on the course, including his infamous parachute pants, a matching grey tracksuit get-up, and his unforgettable “smokes packet” vest, which he was politely asked to remove during the 2024 Masters.

Here are the clubs in Jason Day’s bag:

Which clubs does Jason Day use?

JASON DAY DRIVER

PING G430 LST (10.5°)

After experimenting with several driver models over the past few years, Jason has stuck with a PING G430 LST driver since 2024.

The LST offers low-spinning/low-launching performance, achieved through its lightweight CarbonFly Wrap crown which extends into the driver’s heel and toe. The weight saving lowers the centre of gravity to cut spin, increase ball speed and boost stability.

The LST model also features the most compact head (440cc) of the three-model G430 driver range, helping Jason fade or draw the ball off the tee. The PING G430 LST has been replaced by the PING G440 LST driver.

Jason has a Mitsubishi Diamana WB 63 TX shaft installed in his PING G430 LST driver.

JASON DAY FAIRWAY WOODS

TAYLORMADE Qi35 (3W: 15°), TAYLORMADE STEALTH (7W: 21°)

Jason carries a couple of TaylorMade fairway woods in his bag. His three wood is the current Qi35 model, a club he uses frequently off the tee. The Qi35 fairway wood offers him a blend of speed and forgiveness and features a notably lower rear skirt, which is designed to align the centre of gravity of the head with the centre of the ball.

Meanwhile, Jason’s seven wood is a TaylorMade Stealth fairway, a club released in 2022. It features a carbon fibre crown, V-Steel sole and Twist Face, a combination that helps Jason launch the ball high and straight while helping the club move through the turf efficiently.

Jason uses a Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver 80 X shaft in both his fairway woods.

JASON DAY IRONS

TAYLORMADE P7MC (5-PW), TAYLORMADE P790 (4)

It’s no surprise Jason has elected to play TaylorMade P7MC irons, because they’re exactly the type of irons you’d expect an elite ball striker to relish using.

TaylorMade’s compact grain forging technique is pivotal to the P7MC iron’s performance. It maintains the natural grain structure of the steel to elevate feel and feedback, aspects of performance a player of Jason’s calibre regard as essential.

Featuring a compact head shape for responsive performance, P7MC irons give Jason the ability to flight and shape his iron shots with precision. The small cavity on the rear of the clubhead offers a slight uptick in forgiveness compared to a muscleback blade iron, however, they retain a classic player’s iron shaping.

Meanwhile, Jason’s longest iron is a TaylorMade P790 four iron. Its hollow-bodied design is packed with technology that offers extra forgiveness and allows Jason to launch his four iron high and far. Featuring a thin, flexible face that delivers fast ball speeds, the P790 includes internal tungsten weighting to optimise launch trajectory. A speed slot on the sole of the P790 iron also offers forgiveness for strikes low on the face.

Jason plays True Temper Dynamic Gold X Seven shafts in all his irons.

JASON DAY WEDGES

TITLEIST VOKEY DESIGN SM10 (52°, 56°), TITLEIST VOKEY DESIGN WEDGEWORKS (60°)

Jason plays Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges, which provide him with precise control and superb stopping power — especially out of the rough — through their progressive centre of gravity and spin milled grooves.

The Vokey SM10 range features six grind options (T,M,S,D,F,K). Jason plays the all-purpose F grind in his 52° wedge and the higher bounce S grind in his 56° SM10 wedge. His 60° Vokey Design Wedgeworks wedge is custom-made for his requirements and features a low-bounce L grind with relief taken out of the heel, toe and trailing edge.

Jason plays True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts in each of his wedges.

JASON DAY PUTTER

TAYLORMADE ITSY BITSY SPIDER LIMITED RED

A TaylorMade Itsy Bitsy Spider putter is Jason’s flatstick choice, finished, of course, in his trademark red.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider is a scaled down version of TaylorMade’s Spider putter which Jason used to win the 2015 PGA Championship.

The mallet is fitted with a slant neck hosel that provides a significant amount of toe hang, while an aluminium Pure Roll insert is tuned to provide an end-over-end roll at impact.

JASON DAY GOLF BALL

BRIDGESTONE TOUR B X MINDSET

Jason plays a Bridgestone Tour B X Mindset golf ball which offers him workability, spin and distance off the tee.

The Tour B X is designed to limit spin on full shots to generate extra carry distance. But around the greens, the ball delivers maximum spin, which allows Jason to stop it in an instant.

Jason was the brains behind the Mindset concept, which is available only on Bridgestone Tour golf balls. Mindset is a visual cue stamped on the ball that Jason uses to remind him of his routine prior to playing every shot. An outer red circle represents Identify, which Jason uses for club selection, wind direction, shot shape and distance; an inner yellow circle indicates Visualise, to connect to the target and visualise the shot shape; and a green dot represents Focus, which reminds Jason to free his mind of all thoughts and swing freely.
