This is a great, but expensive time of year for golf 'geeks' like myself. With all manufacturers releasing their latest hardware to the world in the space of a few months. This adds extra pressure to the manufacturers involved, as they know their products need to excel above the rest. They need to create something different, attractive and better performing than the predecessor. I think we may have just found it.
This brings me on to the latest range of Mizuno products that I had the absolute pleasure of reviewing for our GolfBox Reviews YouTube Channel (See below). We have three styles of heads, that target three different ranges of handicaps. The Powerful JPX900 Hot Metal is the ultimate distance and forgiveness package, with the JPX900 Forged iron providing distance-enhancing technologies and muscle back control. The JPX900 Tour brings a classic head and maximum workability to the table and will heavily appeal to the lower handicapper due to its classic aesthetics.

VIDEO ERROR - THIS IRON IS NOT FORGED, EVEN THOUGH IT FEELS LIKE IT IS
I started my review with this beast. The 'Hot Metal' iron that Mizuno promised would deliver in distance, forgiveness and feel. 'Feel' is not something that you would usually associate with a higher handicappers club. Well, Mizuno delivered on their promise. I have never felt so much feedback from a game improving iron, as I have from the Hot Metal.
A new mix of a 4140 Chromoly gives the iron a strength that allows the lie to be adjusted upright or flat without jeopardising its durability. This also opens a window of opportunity for a thinner face that produces this 'active' feeling that I experienced.
Need distance and forgiveness? then look no further.
FIRST IMPRESSION
Looks like a distance iron with it's larger head size and visual technology. I initially thought it was going to be another distance iron that feels 'clunky' and unresponsive.
LAST IMPRESSION
Just WOW! The instant feedback makes you believe that it should have a smaller head profile, but it still manages to travel a long way.

Mizuno JPX900 Forged Irons
To say that I was excited about the return of the Forged Iron, would be a complete understatement. As the previous JPX 850 really left an impact on me. It was very easy to hit and extremely long. So, I was very intrigued to know how this could be any 'better'.
We have major improvements, like the debut of the milled pocket. Which enhances energy transfer over the whole surface area of the club face, for more forgiving and powerful results.
This happens to be Mizuno's highest priority out of the range. “If we could only make one iron for the world’s golfers to play, it would probably be the JPX900 Forged,” Chris Voshall explains. “It’s beautifully shaped and compact enough for a tour player to throw in the bag, but also incredibly quick off the face and loses very little from mishits. There’s almost no compromise to make in any direction.”
FIRST IMPRESSION
I didn't need to hit this club to know how good it was going to feel and perform. I have been a fan of the Forged range since the beginning and the news of the successor really caught my attention.
At address, the club can look on the bulkier side for a better player, but as soon as you 'let fly' you know what this iron is capable of.
LAST IMPRESSION
Was it the best iron I have ever hit? Quite possibly. It has everything you need. Distance, forgiveness and playability. It ticks all of the boxes. Especially if, like me, you play rarely and require that extra little support around a golf course.
Mizuno, consider this as my order for a set of the Mizuno JPX900 Forged Irons.

Mizuno JPX900 Tour Irons
Knowing that I will be reviewing a blade with my currently 'rusty' golf swing, really made me lose sleep prior to this video.
As mentioned in the review, this is, without doubt, the best-looking iron I have ever seen. It is classy, simple and yet very affective. A much smaller profile than the other two models in the range, that oozes workability.
My first strike of the iron was luckily a pretty good one, and it really did go the distance. Even though, It was the following shot that really impressed me. A slightly toed strike still managed to still carry over the 190-metre mark (6 iron) to my disbelief.
It is no secret that a blade WAS previously labelled as 'difficult' to hit and the big 'chunky' distance iron was uncontrollable. There was no happy medium.
Somehow, Mizuno have engineered the impossible. They have created an iron with the workability of a blade and forgiveness of a cavity back.
FIRST IMPRESSION
If I could describe the initial experience in one word, then it would be 'intimidating'. A very small and thin profile that has limited to no offset at address.
LAST IMPRESSION
I had already pre-judged the Tour model before giving them a fair chance. They were surprisingly forgiving for a blade/muscle back and really made me question the decision on my next set
