Ryan Fox What's In The Bag? (2025)
Posted by GolfBox on 13th May 2025
Ryan Fox has a pedigree linked to New Zealand team sport royalty, however, the big-hitting Kiwi has travelled his own path and made a name for himself at golf's elite level.
Son of All-Blacks legend Grant Fox, who captained the team to win the World Cup in 1987, and grandson of New Zealand cricketer Merv Wallace, Ryan Fox has won on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
One of the fastest players on tour, Fox turned pro in 2012 and graduated to the DP World Tour in 2017. In 2019, he claimed his first win on a global tour at the Perth Super Six. In 2022, he won the Ras Al Khaimah Championship and the Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, leading to a runner-up finish on the Race To Dubai. The following year he won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and secured playing rights on the PGA Tour for 2024 — the same year he represented New Zealand in Paris for his third Olympic Games.
In 2025, Ryan Fox broke through for his first PGA Tour win at the Myrtle Beach Classic, chipping in to win a playoff.
A Srixon staffer, here are the clubs in Ryan Fox’s bag.
Which clubs does Ryan Fox use?
RYAN FOX DRIVER
Ryan’s Srixon ZXi LS driver is the perfect tool to match his powerful tee-ball game.
It’s the lowest spinning model in the three-strong ZXi driver family and is also fade-biased.
Srixon’s signature iFlex Technology powers the ZXi LS driver. iFlex is a variable-thickness face design featuring an advanced topology that is more intricate and detailed than ever before. It was only made possible through the use of a new titanium called Ti72S, which enabled Srixon's design team to thin out the area in the centre of the face.
The ultra-thin middle zone is supported by thicker areas in the heel and toe, which interact with Srixon's Rebound Frame system. Rebound Frame permits several zones of the club head and face to distort and flex concurrently, to concentrate more energy into the ball at impact and generate extra distance off the tee.
The Srixon ZXi LS driver features 10g and 4g weights at the front and rear of the head. Flipping the weights will create a touch more spin, however, Ryan has his driver geared for the lowest spinning performance.
Ryan Fox’s Srixon ZXi LS driver is fitted with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 TX shaft.
RYAN FOX FAIRWAY WOOD
SRIXON ZXi (3W: 15°)
Ryan Fox carries a Srixon ZXi three wood that replicates many aspects of his Srixon ZXi LS driver. It features the iFlex face design and Rebound Frame system to maximise ball speed and distance from every part of the face. However, unlike the Srixon ZXi LS driver, the ZXi three wood features a carbon fibre crown, lowering the centre of gravity to create a high-launching ball flight.
Ryan’s ZXi three wood also features a revised leading edge design, which makes it appear flatter and more grounded at address, particularly around the toe side.
A Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 8X shaft is installed in Ryan Fox’s Srixon ZXi fairway wood.
RYAN FOX IRONS
SRIXON ZXi5 (3-5), SRIXON ZXi7 (6-PW)
Ryan’s blended set of Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons offers him the best of both worlds.
His Srixon ZXi7 short irons are compact forged irons, notable for their thin topline and narrow sole. It’s a tour-focused design that gives Ryan the capacity to shape and flight his scoring irons and delivers precise control. Srixon ZXi7 irons feature extra mass behind the sweet spot, a design that promotes extra speed and superior feel from strikes out of the centre, while Srixon’s vibration-preventing PureFrame design offers a pure forged feel.
Meanwhile, Ryan plays Srixon ZXi5 irons in his longer irons. Featuring Srixon's MainFrame technology and a tungsten-loaded toe, ZXi5 irons are bigger, more forgiving and launch higher than their ZXi7 relatives.
Srixon’s progressive VT sole design appears on both the ZXi5 and ZXi7 iron to promote efficient turf interaction and prevent chunked shots. Both irons are also equipped with a progressive groove pattern, with the longer irons featuring wider and shallower grooves for maximum distance and the short irons installed with deeper and narrower grooves to maximise control and spin consistency.
Ryan’s Srixon ZXi irons are paired with True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts.
RYAN FOX WEDGES
CLEVELAND RTZ (50°, 56°, 60°)
Ryan switched from Cleveland RTX6 wedges to the new Cleveland RTZ wedges in early 2025.
Cleveland RTZ wedges are constructed from Z-Alloy, a new material conceived entirely by Cleveland. Z-Alloy is a lower density material compared to the regular 8620 steel other wedges are constructed from. It gave Cleveland the freedom to shift the centre of gravity closer to the centre of the club for superior performance, without needing to change the classic head shape their wedges are famous for. The new Z-Alloy is also softer, which makes RTZ wedges feel better.
Ryan Fox plays Cleveland’s Mid grind in his two lower lofted wedges while his 60° degree wedge is fitted with Cleveland’s low bounce grind option.
His Cleveland RTZ wedges are fitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 and S400 shafts.
RYAN FOX PUTTER
Ryan Fox uses a PING Anser 2D putter, a classic blade putter based on PING’s original Anser, which introduced the revolutionary concept of heel-toe weighted performance. Ryan’s Anser 2D features a plumber’s neck hosel, which provides a slight amount of toe hang, and tungsten weights on the face to enhance stability and boost forgiveness.
RYAN FOX GOLF BALL
Ryan’s 2023 Srixon Z-Star XV ball is the perfect match for his game. A three-layer tour ball, it offers mid-spin/mid-launch characteristics and reduces spin with the driver to generate extra distance off the tee. However, Srixon’s new Spin Skin+ coating on the Z-Star XV’s cover elevates spin rates for his short irons, which helps Ryan knock it beside the pin on his approach shots and around the greens.
