Stunning spin levels, precise control and a tour-grade feel: would you expect anything less from the new TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 wedges?

TaylorMade’s new Milled Grind 3 wedge line picks up where the previous MG wedge models left off, with TaylorMade’s CNC-milling process again replicating sole grinds with extraordinary consistency.

But some innovative design tweaks have made Milled Grind 3 wedges the ultimate all-round performers, delivering ripping backspin from the fairway, complete control around the green and finesse from the sand that’ll quickly take your wedge game from the outhouse to the penthouse.

Grinds And Bounce

Having a dependable and dynamic wedge game is what often sets the best players apart. After all what’s the point in ripping a drive to within wedge range only to disappointingly duff it time after time like a total numpty?

Sometimes it’s just a matter of choosing the right sole grind, and in that regard the Milled Grind 3 wedge range offers more variety than previous MG models.

There are now four sole grinds to choose from:

  1. Standard Bounce (SB)
The SB holds broad appeal, with its wide sole and slight heel grind making it the most versatile in the line-up.
It’ll perform well on full-throttle swings from the fairway or delicate shots around the greens and will suit moderate angles of attack. The SB will also function well across the full spectrum of course conditions.
  2. Low Bounce (LB)
The LB has a tapered, C-shaped grind that features relief out of the toe, heel and trailing edge.
It’ll reduce the area of contact with the turf so is ideal for playing open-faced shots around the green.
Golfers with a shallow angle of attack will be most suited to the LB and it will perform best on courses with medium-to-hard turf.
  3. High Bounce (HB)
The HB offers the maximum amount of bounce and its sole features a full width grind.
It’ll generate a lot of spin and suits players with a steep angle of attack into the ball.
The HB is the grind designed for soft course conditions and fluffy lies, and will perform particularly well out of bunkers that have soft sand.
  4. Tiger Grind (TW)
And last but certainly not least is the Tiger grind, which replicates the exact bounce and grind specs of arguably the greatest wedge artisan in history. Available in both a 56° and 60° model, both Tiger grind wedges are highly versatile. The 56° features a dual sole grind with relief taken out the heel, allowing players to open or close the face easily and control trajectory. The 60° has more relief taken out of the leading edge and is ideal for playing aggressive, open-faced shots around the green.

The Tech

While the scored CNC-milled sole is a Milled Grind 3 trademark, the new wedges also have a much cleaner appearance.

Clean lines and a simple, uncluttered design definitely give off a tour-player wedge vibe. But in reality MG3 wedges will complement all kinds of players, regardless of their skill level.

TaylorMade have also taken mass out of the middle of the wedge and relocated it higher up the face and lower in the sole, producing a more optimal centre of gravity for a more versatile range of performance.

Powering the MG3’s exceptional spin levels is the ZTP groove design, which sees sharper, deeper and narrower grooves grip the ball more efficiently to generate high spin levels, particularly in the wet.

TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedges - Tech

1️⃣ Complementing the ZTP grooves are TaylorMade’s new Micro Ribs, a series of raised lines in between the grooves. The Micro Ribs add texture to the face for increased spin on those delicate greenside shots.

2️⃣ Raw Face technology also returns in the MG3, with the face and grooves unplated to allow rust to form over time. The rust leads to a rougher surface, which provides greater sopping power over the lifespan of the wedges while also enhancing feel for a soft touch around the greens.

3️⃣ The milling process maximizes consistency, maintaining tolerance levels difficult for a human to repeat. The result is a precisely crafted grind on each and every wedge that produces optimal turf interaction and consistent performance.

TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 wedges are available in either a  satin chrome or satin black finish.
