After winning the US Open at Torrey Pines in 2021 and reclaiming the World No.1 ranking, Jon Rahm is destined to become a fixture at the pointy end of the game for many years to come.
Known as ‘Rahmbo’, the prodigiously talented 26-year-old has become a fan favourite through his aggressive approach to the game.
He is also well known for having a short fuse, but it makes him way more relatable than most of his colleagues on tour; like most of us, he just wants to get the best out of his game and get the best clubs in his bag – and yes, slam them a little harder back in the bag after hitting a bad shot.
Rahm made the switch to Callaway clubs and ball at the beginning of 2021 and immediately found his groove, reportedly shooting a course-record 59 in a pre-season warm-up at Silverleaf Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
What clubs does Jon Rahm use?
Let's take a look what's inside Jon Rahm’s bag:
Jon Rahm Driver
Averaging an impressive 307 yards off the tee this season, Rahm knows how to take advantage of his powerful swing with the driver.
Rahmbo plays Callaway’s Epic Speed Triple Diamond LS driver, a tour-ready model of the new Callaway Epic Speed driver.
The Triple Diamond has a slightly different head shape to regular Epic Speed and the LS stands for low-spin, which is achieved through a second weight port on the sole immediately behind the face.
It’s the perfect driver for transferring Big Jon’s power and ball speed into distance off the tee and an Aldila Tour Green 75 TX shaft completes the picture.
For those without Rahmbo’s power and speed, regular version of the Epic Speed is the next best thing.
It’s the fastest model of the three new Epic drivers and offers a slightly draw-biased ball flight and mid-launch, mid-spin characteristics.
The driver’s new Jailbreak Speedframe design and AI-designed SS21 Flash Face combine to maximise distance and forgiveness.
Jon Rahm Fairway Woods
Rahm has a pair of prototype Callaway Epic Speed Triple Diamond Sub Zero fairway woods in the bag and they complement his swing perfectly.
They feature a new AI-designed SS21 Flash Face and internal Jailbreak Speed Frame technology, components that boost the length and forgiveness of the fairways.
Rahm’s Sub Zero fairway prototypes feature an additional sole weight positioned close to the leading edge that creates a Tour-ready low-spin and low-launching ball flight - which Rahmbo games rather imposingly.
His three wood has an Aldila Tour Green 75 TX shaft while the five wood is fitted with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI (Black) 8 X shaft.
Callaway’s new fairways come in both am Epic Speed and Epic Max model, with the Epic Speed the closest fairway to what Jon Rahm has in his bag.
Jon Rahm Irons
Feel and workability are at the top of Rahmbo’s iron wish list, which is why he plays Callaway’s Apex TCB irons.
Apex TCB irons are compact, classically-styled forged irons with minimal offset, designed for tour pros and elite ball strikers.
They are engineered to produce a piercing ball flight while aiding ball flight control and workability – characteristics similar to the Apex 21 MB muscleback irons – but they are cavity-backed irons (hence the TCB [Tour Cavity Back] branding).
The cavity back construction adds extra forgiveness to the Tour-grade Apex TCB players’ irons.
But be warned: they are made for players like Rahm who consistently find the middle of the club face.
Rahmbo has Project X Rifle 6.5 shafts fitted to all his Apex TCB irons.
Jon Rahm Wedges
For comprehensive coverage in the scoring zone, Rahm has three Callaway MD5 Jaws wedges at his disposal.
Callaway’s renowned Jaws groove design gives Rahm an additional 500rpm of spin that delivers control and stopping power around the green.
Rahm has the grind and bounce of his three Mack Daddy 5 Jaws wedges customised to his specifications but there are four standard Jaws grinds - C, S, X, W – in a variety of loft and bounce configurations.
Project X Rifle 6.5 shafts feature in all three of his wedges.
Jon Rahm Putter
Rahm has experimented with a new Odyssey Ten 2-Ball putter but settled on an Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie S putter.
And after burying two late birdie putts in his US Open win, it will no doubt become a favourite.
The Rossie S is a mid-mallet that features a short slant neck hosel, to produce a moderate level of toe hang to suit strokes that open and shut the putter face.
White Hot OG putters also feature Odyssey’s original White Hot urethane insert, which promotes a smooth roll and sweet impact sound off the face.
Jon Rahm Golf Ball
Rahmbo plays Callaway’s Tour ball, the Chrome Soft X, and it gives the Spanish superstar the perfect platform to showcase his ball-striking ability as well as his touch around and on the greens.
The Chrome Soft X offers a slightly firmer feel than its Chrome Soft sibling and offers low spin performance with the driver for distance off the tee hand-in-hand with spin, stopping power and feel around the greens.
