LPGA superstar Minjee Lee is now a major winner after she flew home in the final round to win a playoff at the Evian Championship in France.
Ranked as high as No.2 in the world, Minjee has been destined for major success ever since she turned pro back in 2014 and won her first event just a few months later.
What clubs does Minjee Lee use?
Let's take a look what's inside Minjee Lee’s bag:
MINJEE LEE DRIVER
SRIXON ZX7 (10.5˚)
Minjee is one of the most consistent ball strikers on the LPGA tour and is a solid performer off the tee.
She currently plays a Srixon ZX7 driver, which features a more penetrating ball flight than Srixon’s other option in the driver line-up, the ZX5.
Powering the ZX7’s performance is Srixon’s rebound frame technology, a revolutionary system that distorts and flexes across multiple areas of the head and face at impact to focus energy into the ball.
And the driver’s lightweight carbon fibre crown locates the CG low to create a high-launching, low-spinning trajectory.
The ZX7 is Srixon’s longest ever driver, with significant ball speed and distance gains - particularly out of the sweet spot – making Minjee’s task off the tee much easier.
A Mitsubishi Diamana DF 50 regular flex shaft is fitted to Minjee’s Srixon ZX7 driver.
MINJEE LEE FAIRWAY WOOD
SRIXON ZX 5W (18˚)
Minjee carries a Srixon ZX five wood in her bag, a club that is equally adept off the tee or fairway.
Like her driver, her ZX fairway is powered by Srixon’s rebound frame technology that creates high-launching distance.
It is paired with a Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft.
MINJEE LEE HYBRID
SRIXON ZX HYBRID (19˚)
Minjee gets the most out of her Srixon ZX hybrid, the club she uses as a long iron replacement.
The ZX hybrid is a balanced blend of iron and fairway wood and it offers the kind of high-launching trajectory needed to hold greens.
It’s a very versatile club, with its capacity to slide through thick rough with ease a real asset.
MINJEE LEE IRONS
SRIXON ZX7 (5-PW)
Srixon’s ZX7 irons are big on feel and workability - two essential ingredients for a player of Minjee’s calibre.
The forged irons have been tweaked, with their small cavity-back design shifting mass behind the sweet spot and out to the perimeter.
It makes ZX7 irons highly workable and provides a buttery soft feel off the face.
But the addition of high-density tungsten in the toe of the 3-7 irons also makes them very forgiving for a player’s iron.
The irons are also equipped with Srixon’s V-shaped sole to help them glide through the turf while also providing a backstop when a swing bottoms out slightly behind the ball.
With a thin top line and an elegant, compact profile, Srixon ZX7 irons complement Minjee’s elite ball striking perfectly.
MINJEE LEE WEDGES
CLEVELAND RTX ZIPCORE (50˚, 54˚, 58˚)
A trio of Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedges gives Minjee an abundance of options when pitching from the fairway, chipping greenside or blasting out of the sand.
They are wedges designed for better players, with the feel and feedback they provide a crucial characteristic for any elite player.
But they also offer some forgiveness via the new ZipCore, which alters the CG to improve forgiveness, particularly from strikes low on the face.
Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedges are highly versatile, with a wide variety of sole grinds and bounce option to suit any player’s chipping and pitching style.
Minjee opts for a mid-bounce grind in her 50° and 54° wedges and low-bounce in her 58° wedge.
MINJEE LEE PUTTER
SCOTTY CAMERON CIRCLE T NEWPORT 2
Minjee was on fire with her Scotty Cameron putter at the Evian and it has served her well in her career so far.
She uses the tour-issue Circle T Newport 2 putter, which is very similar to the retail version called the Special Select Newport 2.
It is a classic blade style putter with a balanced tungsten sole and the trademark Scotty Cameron red screws on the back cavity.
The Newport 2 is a toe hang putter with a full shaft of offset and is a popular choice among tour players.
MINJEE LEE GOLF BALL
A three-piece tour ball, the Srixon Z-Star’s mid-spin, mid-launch characteristics make it an ideal partner for Minjee’s game.
It has a compression of 88, which by tour standards is on the soft side, while a new dimple pattern creates less friction in the air for extra distance.
The Z-Star also has the thinnest cover of any golf ball on the market, which makes it Srixon’s top performing ball for generating crucial greenside spin.
Combining soft feel, speed and spin, the Srixon Z-Star gives Minjee full control out on the course.
