Nelly Korda What's in the Bag? (2024)

Posted by GolfBox on 26th Apr 2024

Nelly Korda had won a major, claimed an Olympic Gold medal and achieved the world No.1 ranking all before she’d turned 24-years-old. But the best was yet to come. She shot out of the blocks in 2024 with five consecutive victories, a remarkable run of success highlighted by a second major title at the Chevron Championship in Texas (April 18-21).

The sweet-swinging American, daughter of Czech tennis legends Petr and Regina Korda, is also without doubt the best golfer in the family after usurping her sister Jessica’s achievements on the LPGA Tour.

What clubs does Nelly Korda use?

Let's take a look what's inside Nelly Korda's bag:

NELLY KORDA DRIVER

TAYLORMADE Qi10 MAX DRIVER (10.5°)

Pound-for-pound, Nelly Korda has to be one of the longest drivers in the world. She has consistently ranked inside the top 10 in driving distance since joining the LPGA tour as an 18-year-old but switched things up in 2023, playing a TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD driver after previously being loyal to Titleist throughout her professional career.

In 2024 she upgraded to TaylorMade’s new Qi10 Max, which boasts an MOI in excess of 10,000. It’s the most forgiving driver TaylorMade have ever created but Nelly Korda isn’t your typical Max player looking for maximum assistance from off-centre strikes. However, its built-in draw bias and high-launching, mid-spin characteristics help Nelly hit her preferred draw shape off the tee. Nelly has a Mitsubishi Diamana GT 60 S shaft installed in her Qi10 Max, which has the largest head of the three TaylorMade Qi10 drivers.

NELLY KORDA FAIWAY WOOD

TAYLORMADE STEALTH 2 (3W - 15° | 5W - 21° )

Nelly Korda games a pair of TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods and they’ve proven a more than handy addition to her bag. In contrast to her high-launching Qi10 Max driver, Nelly has opted for a lower-launching flight by playing TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Key to the Stealth 2 fairways’ performance is an ultra-low centre of gravity that produces superb performance off the deck and remarkable consistency. Nelly has a Fujikura Ventus Red 7 S shaft fitted to her 3 wood and a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 S shaft installed on her 5 wood.

NELLY KORDA HYBRID

PING G425 HYBRID (26°)

Nelly Korda’s PING G425 hybrid has been in her bag for a while now but its dependability and versatility make it tough to consider an upgrade.
It has since been superseded by the newer PING G430 range but the G425 hybrid is tuned for high-launching distance, which helps Nelly attack the longer holes on tour. The hybrid’s taller-than-average face offers a solid feel and it features PING’s adjustable hosel to finetune loft and flight. Nelly has paired her PING G425 hybrid with a Fujikura Ventus Blue HB 7 S shaft.

NELLY KORDA IRONS

TAYLORMADE P770 IRONS (5) - TAYLORMADE P7MC IRONS (6-PW)

Nelly Korda’s switch to TaylorMade irons was a significant change after many years using Titleist products. However, the TaylorMade P770 iron she uses in her lowest lofted iron (5) has provided the extra height she needs from outside 180 yards to hold more greens. P770 irons are packed with an internal SpeedFoam core, progressive tungsten weighting and a forged face insert - components that help to launch the golf ball higher and further.

Meanwhile, Nelly’s P7MC irons are modern tour irons, featuring a player’s cavity back profile and compact blade length that promotes control in her scoring irons (6-PW). Aerotech Steelfiber i80cw shafts are fitted to all her TaylorMade irons.

NELLY KORDA WEDGES

TAYLORMADE MILLED GRIND 4 (50°, 54°) - VOKEY DESIGN WEDGEWORKS SM9 (58°)

Nelly is one helluva wedge player, which you must be in order to ascend so rapidly to the world No.1 ranking. With such a graceful swing, Nelly’s finesse appears to come naturally - but it helps having a pair of TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 wedges in the bag. MG4 wedges are built for precise spin. Their razor-sharp grooves are complemented by a laser-etched face texture in between, which provides additional grip on the face to increase spin on shorter greenside shots. The centre of gravity has also been shifted higher up the face and lower in the sole in the MG4 to improve spin rates. Milled Grind 4 wedges are available in four grind options - Standard Bounce (SB), Low Bounce (LB), High Bounce (HB) and Tiger Grind (TW). Nelly plays an SB grind in her 50° and 54° wedge.

Nelly Korda’s 58° Vokey Design Wedgeworks SM9 wedge is custom built, with a unique sole grind that suits her requirements. She uses the wedge mainly out of the sand and around the greens but the SM9’s progressive CG placement increases trajectory and distance control when she does play it from the fairway. Aerotech’s Steelfiber i95cw shafts are fitted to all Nelly’s wedges.

NELLY KORDA PUTTER

SCOTTY CAMERON SPECIAL SELECT SQUAREBACK 2 TOUR PROTOTYPE

Nelly plays a tour-only prototype of the Scotty Cameron Squareback 2 putter, which is a wide-bodied, mid-mallet. After experimenting with a Logan Olson prototype early in 2024, the putter she won the Drive On Championship with in January, Nelly switched back to her proven Scotty Cameron flatstick.

The Squareback 2 is a boxier version of Scotty Cameron’s Newport 2 and is more forgiving, with an aluminium sole plate and stainless steel heel-toe weights optimised for a perfectly balanced feel. A plumber’s neck hosel and thin topline aid the alignment process, which helps Nelly make more than her fair share of putts.

NELLY KORDA GOLF BALL

2024 TAYLORMADE TP5x

Nelly plays the new 2024 TaylorMade TP5x golf ball, which offers less long game spin and a firmer feel than its TP5 counterpart via a new Speed Wrapped Core.A five-layer ball, the TP5x spins less with the driver and long irons, to generate extra distance, but offers a soft feel and extra spin and control in the short irons and around the greens. The 2024 TP5x is the fastest TP5 model in history, which gives Nelly the performance she requires when playing on tour.
