Scottie Scheffler What's in the Bag? (2024)

Scottie Scheffler What's in the Bag? (2024)

Posted by GolfBox on 15th Apr 2024

Just 41 days after winning his first tournament on the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler reached the pinnacle of golf when he ascended to World No.1 in 2022. And just 14 days after that, he won his first major at the 2022 Masters. It was a remarkable rise for the likeable Scheffler and he hasn’t backed off since.

He won the Phoenix Open and Player’s Championship before signing off 2023 with a late season victory at the Hero World Challenge (November 30 - December 3).
Scottie then underlined his status as the top player in the world when winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 7-10) and Player’s Championship (March 14-17) when he successfully defended his title.

But the best was yet to come: in April 2024, he won his second green jacket with a commanding victory at the 88th Masters.

What clubs does Scottie Scheffler use?

  • WITB UPDATE: 10/03/2024: Scottie switches to a Qi10 fairway wood and TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter.
  • WITB UPDATE: 08/02/2024: Scottie switched his Driver to Qi-10.
  • WITB UPDATE: 30/11/2023: Scottie switched his putter to Logan Olson Prototype.

Let's take a look what's inside Scottie Scheffler's bag:

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER DRIVER

WITB UPDATE: 08/02/2024: TAYLORMADE Qi10 (8°)

Scottie Scheffler switched to the new TaylorMade Qi10 driver at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix in February after playing the West Coast swing with his Stealth 2 Plus driver in the bag.

The Qi10 driver is straighter and more forgiving but maintains the ball speed gains achieved through TaylorMade’s Stealth era.A carbon fibre face is responsible for the impressive ball speed that emanates from every area of the driver face while a new carbon fibre Infinity crown has a huge impact on the Qi10’s forgiveness - mass is shifted deeper in the driver head, lowering the centre of gravity and increasing the MOI and stability of the Qi10 driver head.

OLD DRIVER: TAYLORMADE STEALTH 2 PLUS (8°)

Scottie Scheffler uses TaylorMade’s Stealth 2 Plus driver and notched two wins with it in his first six events. Scottie absolutely pounds it off the tee and his effort is converted efficiently into speed and distance via the Stealth 2’s lightweight carbon fibre face.

The Stealth 2 Plus driver, which features a 15g sliding sole weight to produce either a fade or draw bias, has helped Scottie add distance and forgiveness off the tee. A nanotexture coating on the carbon fibre face also makes the Stealth 2 Plus driver ultra-consistent in both wet and dry weather, with spin rates near identical. Scottie has a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X shaft fitted to his driver.

WITB UPDATE: 10/03/2024: TAYLORMADE Qi10 FAIRWAY (3W - 15°)

Scottie switched out his Stealth 2 fairway for a new TaylorMade Qi10 three wood and it seems to have provided him with the ideal blend of speed and distance. His Qi10 fairway wood features a 190cc head that is complemented by a carbon fibre infinity crown, the combination lowering the club’s centre of gravity to create a high launching ball flight. It is more forgiving than the compact Qi10 Tour fairway wood but features a shallower face than the Qi10 Max fairway.

OLD FAIRWAY: TAYLORMADE STEALTH 2 3 WOOD (15°)

Scottie’s Stealth 2 fairway wood is tuned to help him launch it high but without too much spin, a performance characteristic consistent throughout the entire Stealth 2 fairway wood. Scottie has tuned his 15° three wood to go a specific distance, from which he gaps the rest of his set. Stealth 2 fairway woods all feature a carbon crown. A Fujikura Ventus Black 8 X shaft is fitted to Scottie’s three wood.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER HYBRID

SRIXON ZU85 (3-20˚, 4-23˚)

Scottie’s Srixon ZU85 long-iron replacement is one of the most iron-like hybrids in the game. It is a hollow-bodied hybrid that launches higher than a traditional long iron and its steep descent angle is perfect for soft landings. And that means Scottie can stick it close from well over 220 yards using his ZU85 hybrid.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER IRONS

TAYLORMADE P7TW (5-PW)

After previously playing TaylorMade P730 irons, Scottie switched to TaylorMade’s P7TW blades in 2021 to access more shot-shaping creativity. TaylorMade P7TW irons were designed for Tiger Woods and deliver a pure feel and direct feedback that is among the best in the game, and while they are made to be hit out of the sweet spot, Scottie has had little trouble finding it. TaylorMade P7TW irons were a limited edition but the TaylorMade P7MB Irons feature similar shaping, with narrow soles, thin toplines and little offset.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER WEDGES

TITLEIST VOKEY SM8 WEDGES (50˚, 56˚, 60˚)

Scottie’s short game craft was on full display at the Masters, with his low-flying, one-hop wedges stopping on a dime while his crafty bunker play was seriously impressive. He relies on a trio of Titleist Vokey SM8 wedges, the forerunner to the new Vokey SM9 wedges released in 2022.

The SM9 wedge range is a versatile one, with bounce and grind options precisely matched to Scottie’s requirements – he uses the standard F-grind in his lower lofted wedges and the highly playable K-grind in his 60˚ Wedgeworks prototype wedge. Vokey SM9 wedges feature full-length grooves on the face and a progressive CG to optimise trajectory and enhance distance control.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER PUTTER

WITB UPDATE: 10/03/2024: TAYLORMADE SPIDER TOUR X

After a brief dalliance with a Logan Olson prototype following a long-term relationship with his Scotty Cameron Special Select putter, Scottie switched to a TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter in early 2024. He enjoyed almost immediate success, winning first time out with it in 2024 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational (he did experiment with the Spider Tour X in late 2023 at the FedEx playoffs).

The TaylorMade Spider Tour X is a mallet putter with a tour-proven pedigree (Rory McIlroy also has one in his bag). The latest update of the Spider Tour X features slightly smaller wings, which boost stability and MOI, while a new weighting layout sees the weights shifted to the sole to promote slightly more rotation of the face. Scottie’s Spider Tour X is fitted with an L-neck hosel. TaylorMade’s True Path alignment, complemented by a full-length alignment line, features on the top of Scottie’s Spider Tour X putter.

OLD PUTTER: LOGAN OLSON PROTOYTPE PUTTER

Scottie made the decision to leave his Scotty Cameron Special Select prototype behind and try something new late in 2023.

That something new came in the form of a Logan Olson prototype putter, which has a classic Anser look about it and features a plumber’s neck hosel. The topline has an arrangement of milling lines that frames the ball in the middle of the putter face, while single black sightline runs from the face to rear flange.
Scottie had immediate success with the prototype, rolling in putt after putt to win the Hero World Challenge in December 2023.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER GOLF BALL

2023 TITLEIST PRO V1

For a player who seems to have all the shots, Titleist’s three-layer Pro V1 golf ball serves Scottie well. It maximises Scottie’s distance off the tee via its low-spinning distance while maintaining control and spin in his iron game. And around the greens, the Titleist Pro V1 provides the soft feel and spin that makes Scottie one of the best in the game.
