Late last year, GolfBox was invited by Mizuno to Japan and given rare access behind the doors of one of the most respected manufacturing cultures in sport. Across factories, forges, research facilities and historic temples, we set out to document how Mizuno golf clubs are made—and more importantly, why they are made that way. Guided by a personal perspective shaped by a lifelong fascination with Japanese culture, this project explores the connection between craft, patience and mastery, and asks whether the spirit of Mizuno truly reflects the spirit of Japan itself.
From the very first interaction, what felt different about Mizuno was their unwavering commitment to building clubs the right way. There was a clear standard they held themselves to, and an almost reverence for the process itself, an understanding that how something is made matters just as much as the end result.
At the heart of Mizuno’s golf club making lies a process few ever see. This film takes viewers inside the forging factory where raw steel is shaped through heat, pressure and human skill—guided by craftsmen who spend years mastering a single machine. Every forged club passes through these hands, where precision is learned over decades and tradition is carried forward one strike at a time. More than a manufacturing step, forging is the foundation of Mizuno’s identity, revealing why their clubs are not simply made, but forged with intent.

From travel days and factory floors to quiet observations and unexpected discoveries, these behind-the-scenes pieces capture the atmosphere, scale and emotion of the journey as it unfolded.
