TaylorMade SIM Range of Golf Clubs

TaylorMade SIM Range of Golf Clubs

Posted by GolfBox on 5th Feb 2020

TaylorMade’s SIM line-up of Drivers, Fairway Woods, Rescue and Irons are designed to stand up and deliver in the “sliding doors” moment of the downswing – the crucial final metre before impact. A lot happens in that last metre and it goes by in the blink of an eye, but TaylorMade have cottoned on to the fact that even the tiniest of adjustments made during that phase of the swing can alter the course of history.

OK, that might be a bit of an over-reach (unless you need to hit it close to earn your Tour card, or something), but that final metre usually determines whether you'll be walking straight ahead to your next shot as planned or veering off and commencing the three-minute search to find your ball.

The TaylorMade SIM line-up delivers game-changing consistency and performance in that critical moment of the downswing.

And before WA Open winner Michael Sim gets too excited, SIM stands for “shape in motion” - a concept that introduces some funky geometry and unconventional designs to improve aerodynamics, boost club head speed and enhance forgiveness.

Drivers

The new SIM-powered driver design boosts distance and forgiveness across three different models.

Woods & Rescue

Long and accurate fairway woods and rescue share the SIM driver DNA and feature a new sole plate.

Irons

The SIM-powered Irons deliver unparalleled distance from irons that offer forged-like feel and feedback.

TAYLORMADE SIM DRIVERS

It’s called the speed generation zone; the final metre of movement on the downswing when the club head accelerates from hip height until colliding with the ball at impact. And it’s the stage of the downswing when the club head typically accelerates from 90 up to 120 mph. It’s also where the TaylorMade SIM driver has been designed to outperform every other driver on the market.

With a slippery new head shape, an asymmetric sole design, a longer and heavier Inertia Generator and adjustable loft hosel, the SIM driver has been designed for distance - with no trade-offs in forgiveness and launch.

It’s pure and SIMple power when you need it most.

Inertia Generator

The reshaped sole design delivers more clubhead speed and enhanced aerodynamics at the most critical stage of the swing. The Inertia Generator positions weight at the extreme rear for increased forgiveness and is strategically angled to reduce drag on the downswing.

Sliding Weight Technology*

Provides adjustability and personalization to optimize the club for individual trajectory and ball-flight preferences, up to +/-20 yards of draw-fade bias. *SIM Standard Only

Injected Twist Face

Each SIM/SIM Max/SIM Max•D driver head has been individually calibrated and injected to reach the threshold of the maximum legal limit of ball speed. The revolutionary face curvature reduces sidespin and delivers straighter shots on off-center strikes.

More Carbon Fibre

The expanded use of carbon fibre results in significant weight savings in the SIM driver head. The savings are funnelled into the larger, heavier and more effective Inertia Generator. It concentrates the CG low to improve launch, distance and forgiveness.

THREE TAYLORMADE SIM DRIVERS

It's a triple treat of SIM drivers, with the SIM, SIM MAX and SIM MAX D models all sharing the same distance-creating DNA. Each one features tweaks to the SIM design that'll suit your game off the tee, down to a tee.

The TaylorMade SIM driver is the model for players who like to fade, draw, cut, sting and manipulate the ball off the tee. Featuring a smaller face than the SIM MAX and SIM MAX D, it's the only model that offers flight customisation through an adjustable weighting system. A 10g sliding weight is able to produce a handy 20 yards of draw or fade bias depending on its location on the sole.

Forgiveness to the MAX is the SIM MAX driver's modus operandi. Sporting a face that is higher than the SIM (8 per cent larger by area) and a heavier Inertia Generator on the rear of the sole that lifts the MOI, the MAX delivers extra forgiveness to your game when strikes aren’t out of the centre. The MAX also launches higher than the standard SIM driver.

If you find yourself playing down the right side of the course, then the SIM MAX D will have you spending more of your round in the middle of the fairway. The D stands for draw, which is what the D MAX is designed to bestow on a slicer's game. An internal weight helps to shut the SIM MAX D's face at impact, while the alignment guide on top of the crowned is skewed to appear open, to help your hands square the face at impact. The SIM MAX D might even see you making the occasional visit to the left side of the fairway and it has a much larger and higher club face, which is 18 per cent bigger than the SIM driver.

TAYLORMADE SIM FAIRWAY WOODS & RESCUE

Paired with the latest technology and materials, a trusty old favourite, the V Steel sole, has been reintroduced on TaylorMade’s SIM fairway woods and hybrids.

Last seen a decade ago, the V Steel sole has enjoyed a successful homecoming in the SIM fairway wood collection, while making its first appearance ever in a rescue. Three different fairway wood models – SIM Titanium, SIM MAX, SIM MAX D and the long iron replacement SIM MAX Rescue hybrid. All the woods and rescue feature a 2° adjustable loft hosel.

Both the Fairway Woods and Rescue offer explosive distance, forgiveness and playability.

V Steel Sole

The V Steel sole was justifiably given a second life because of its slippery, low resistance performance through the turf at impact. It elevates club head speed and ball speed for more distance.

Twist Face

Twist Face technology straightens out heel and toe strikes. Extra loft in the face’s toe and less in the heel cancels out the unwanted “gear effect” that is generated from strikes in those areas.

Speed Pocket

The Speed Pocket, which creates forgiveness for strikes low on the face, has also been redesigned. The cut-through now sits level with the sole to eliminate friction.

Featuring the smallest head size, the TaylorMade SIM Titanium combines a lightweight titanium face and body with the 80g V Steel sole and carbon fibre crown for an ultra-low CG. A new face made from ZATECH titanium, a new material that is stronger but more flexible than regular titanium, produces high-launching, extreme distance and a next generation Speed Pocket offers more forgiveness on strikes low on the face.

A durable C300 steel face combines with the V Steel sole to provide the highest launch and peak trajectory of all three SIM fairway models. The TaylorMade SIM MAX fairway wood delivers the distance and playability that should suit most players, regardless of their ability.

A bigger version of the SIM MAX fairway, the TaylorMade SIM MAX D fairway is designed to eradicate a slice. Internal weighting and an offset crown alignment produces a draw bias that will suit most high handicappers.

As the first hybrid to feature the highly-versatile V Steel sole, the SIM MAX Rescue will help extract you from a multitude of sticky situations out on the course. A new rounded toe and the C300 steel face's reworked angle is designed to inspire confidence at address for golfers across every talent category.

TAYLORMADE SIM MAX IRONS

Distance irons have always felt and sounded a little clunky compared to their more refined forged cousins.

But TaylorMade's new SIM MAX irons have changed that forever. It’s all down to a revised Speed Bridge, a structural beam that links the iron’s back bar with its top line, and the new ECHO Damping system.TaylorMade’s twin technologies work in unison to produce a soft and direct feel in the new SIM MAX and SIM MAX OS irons that, previously, was never viable in a distance iron. The irons are long and offer premium forgiveness, while retaining consistent spin and launch trajectories and they just might convince forged players to make the switch.

Speed Bridge

Connecting the SIM MAX irons’ back bar with the top line, the Speed Bridge braces the top line to reduce unwelcome vibration and deliver forged iron-like feel.

Thru-Slot Speed Pocket

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket separates the sole from the leading edge to effectively create a free-floating face for extra flexibility. This results in an increase in ball speed and forgiveness, particularly on strikes off the bottom grooves of the face.

Echo Damping System

Working in tandem with the Speed Bridge, the new ECHO Damping system kills off the rogue vibrations that ruin feel. It wraps around the Speed Bridge and with multiple contact points spread over the entire length of the iron, it delivers forged iron feel and feedback.

Inverted Cone Technology

Every iron loft is optimised through TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone Technology (ICT), which positions the sweet spot in different locations throughout the set. The short irons have the sweet spot located in the middle of the face to optimise spin and control. In the longer irons the sweet spot migrates towards the toe to produce a slight draw bias.

An all-rounder in every sense of the word, TaylorMade SIM MAX irons are the distance irons that don't feel like distance irons. The ultra-thin and flexible 1.5mm face, Speed Bridge and Thru-Slot speed pocket are the distance-creating engine room of SIM MAX irons.

The increased ball speed makes them long while the large face area increases stability for more forgiveness - the two essential components of a distance iron. And the new ECHO Damping system provides truly exceptional feel and feedback that is on par with forged irons.

Featuring the same technology as SIM MAX irons, the SIM MAX OS packages it up in a slightly larger format that makes the irons easier to launch and extra forgiving.

Bigger heads, taller faces and wider soles increase the stability of the SIM MAX OS irons and allow the CG to be located deeper and lower for easier launch, while strong lofts extract more distance in each iron. The SIM MAX OS irons are the longest in the entire TaylorMade iron range.
